The event is Phillips Clean Sweep. It is a resource fair with food, music, and activities for all four Phillips neighborhoods. The lunch and Resource Fair is Noon to 2:00 pm with set up from 11-Noon. People do start arriving around 11:45 am so good to be set up by then.InvolveMN will also provide food. InvolveMN and Open Arms are also a partner in the lunch. There is a musician confirmed for the event from 11 am-2 pm or as long as we want. His name is Nathaniel Harris, and he plays guitar and sings. Rough guess will be to serve 250-350 people.
About the Kitchen Bus
We prepare & share a nearly weekly community meal, sometimes at our home base near by 37th and Chicago in Minneapolis, sometimes driving out to community gardens and other locations or events. We strive to offer vegetarian meals made from quality organic ingredients sourced from our twice-weekly food share and from local growers.
First shift tasks for kitchen bus volunteers include cleaning and chopping vegetables/fruits, starting soup stock, grill tending, cooking main courses and side dishes, baking cookies and muffins, preparing salads, dressings, desserts and drinks.
Second shift tasks include setting up tent/tables/tablecloths/chairs, beverage and service wear area, garage recycling and compost area, dishing out and serving food, washing dishes, wiping down tables, taking down tables tent and chairs, sweep, mop, clean up grounds and deliver food to camps and elders.
