We would like to arrive with the bus at 8:30 or 9am. We will stop serving food at 4 pm. They are expecting about 500 attendees.
About the kitchen bus: We prepare & share a nearly weekly community meal, sometimes at our home base near by 37th and Chicago in Minneapolis, sometimes driving out to community gardens and other locations or events. We strive to offer vegetarian meals made from quality organic ingredients sourced from our twice-weekly food share and from local growers.
First shift tasks for kitchen bus volunteers include cleaning and chopping vegetables/fruits, starting soup stock, grill tending, cooking main courses and side dishes, baking cookies and muffins, preparing salads, dressings, desserts and drinks.
Second shift tasks include setting up tent/tables/tablecloths/chairs, beverage and service wear area, garage recycling and compost area, dishing out and serving food, washing dishes, wiping down tables, taking down tables tent and chairs, sweep, mop, clean up grounds and deliver food to camps and elders.
